There are often negative comments made about young people and I would just like to congratulate the students at Halesowen College who reently wrote Christmas cards for us to give out to people who might be feeling anxious, worried, depressed and experiencing loneliness and isolation.
Reading some of the messages made me quite emotional and I would like to share a few of these with you.
'May you remember that you are capable of getting to the other side of this. May you have a safe place to let go and have comfort close by, even if that means wearing the same sweatpants many days in a row. May you have the courage to say no when you need to. May you show yourself klndness even when you think you should be stronger. May you find new things that bring you joy, feel in your bones the love people have for you and trust that you will not feel lost forever'
'It may be hard and you may have bad days but I hope this card makes you smile on this special day. We care and always will. Try and spread positivity to help you get a happy and healthy mind'
'To the beautiful soul who is reading this. I hope you have an amazing Christmas as you deserve all the lovely moments you have! You are honestly amazing, keep moving forward because you are stronger than everything. You are a warrior who keeps fighting on and I am proud of you'
'To the one soul reading this: I know you are tired, you are fed up, you are close to breaking, but there is strength within you, even when you feel weak, keep fighting. Mental health doesn't define you. What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candour, more unashamed conversations. You are not alone!'
