Jolly Joggers returns
Our ever-popular Jolly Joggers beginners couch to 5k programme starts again next January.
On Saturday the 7th September , 10:15am, we will be holding a free signup session at West Park, Wolverhampton in the cafe near the bandstand where you will get the chance to signup to Jolly Joggers, meet our friendly run leaders who will answer any questions you may have and meet other people joining the programme. You will also get the chance to go for a gentle walk around the route which you will be running within the park each week.
The first week of Jolly Joggers will start the following week on Saturday 14th September at West Park, Wolverhampton, weekly for 12 weeks. If you are unable to make the signup session, we do allow people to join up until the third week of the programme.
Phyiscal activity and mental health
Taking part in a physical activity has been proven to improve mental health. Sujan, who started off as a participant of Jolly Joggers and now helps out as a volunteer for the group experienced anxiety panic attacks. Sujan tells her story in the video below and explains how Jolly Joggers and taking part in a physical activity helped her to manage and improve her mental health.
“Jolly Joggers is great because it motivates you to keep going jogging, even in winter. It’s helped with my panic and anxiety attacks and I feel much better and more confident in myself. I can go jogging on my own now, which I never used to do before. I’ve made new friends who I keep in touch with and we go jogging together.”
