Jolly Joggers September 19th 2020

With restrictions around COVID-19 easing, we are now able to go ahead and start a new Jolly Joggers group starting on Saturday 19th September at 10.15am, West Park Wolverhampton.

More about Jolly Joggers

Over 12 weeks we build up your jogging and running from a walk (no previous running experience necessary – we ask that you can comfortably walk for 20 minutes before joining us) and celebrate week 12 by completing a 5k (3.1 miles) run around West Park together with Jolly Joggers. We usually link in with Wolverhampton parkrun on our final week but due to the current restrictions around the pandemic this isn’t possible, as parkrun is not currently taking place.

Throughout the term we take part in a range of activities; past activities have included: Time to Talk Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Treasure Hunt, Mental Health Awareness Week, Halloween themed activities and World Mental Health Day.

We are led by a small team of peer volunteers from Dudley Mind who are qualified Leadership In Running Fitness coaches. The sessions are insured and risk assessed and open to people 18+.

Please note that Jolly Joggers is a 12 week programme. Whilst on previous occasions we have allowed people to join up until the third week of the current programme, due to limited space and COVID-19 restrictions – all participants must be registered in advance. We are expecting this programme to be popular, if oversubscribed we will organise a waiting list – with week three the final week for new people joining the programme.

COVID-19

As per government guidelines, social distancing and other safety guidelines must be adhered to at all times and we may have to change how the group runs based on national or local guidelines. We will send you a welcome email in advance and explain everything at the first Jolly Joggers session. A few things to note:

  • You will not be expected to wear a mask whilst taking part in the sessions due to breathing restrictions
  • You will be asked to maintain social distancing throughout the session by leaving a 2 metre gap between others at all times
  • If you have any symptoms or have been told to self-isolate due to someone in your household being unwell PLEASE STAY AT HOME
  • If you develop symptoms/ are confirmed to have COVID19 please inform us so we can let people know

Under normal circumstances we would usually hold a signup session within the cafe located in West Park Wolverhampton, however due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to do so at this time, so places must be booked in advanced by phone or this form

If you would like to register for the Jolly Joggers group starting on the Saturday 19th September, please either complete the form below or call Simon on 01384 685062.

please also note contact details will be shared upon request with the government’s Track and Trace initiative (This is a requirement of England Athletics for our insurance).

Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire – regular physical activity is fun, healthy and safe for most people. However, some people should check with their doctor before they start becoming more physically active. If you answer, yes to any of the questions one our coaches will contact you to discuss further and advise whether you need to speak to your doctor before joining the programme?
