A day to be kind
Today is November 13th 2018, World Kindness Day.
World kindness day is a day for the celebration of kindness, whether it is helping an old lady cross the road or asking someone how they are feeling, all acts of kindness help us feel better about ourselves, which in turn can help us improve our mental wellbeing.
The five ways to wellbeing
The five ways to wellbeing are five steps that we can take to improve our mental wellbeing. These steps have been full researched and developed by the New Economics Foundation. The evidence gathered by the NEF strongly suggests that when people incorporate the five ways into their lives, it has a huge improvement on their wellbeing.
One step of the five ways to wellebing is give
Giving is an act of kindness and you can give in a number of ways
- do something for a stranger or a friend
- offer your time as a volunteer
- ask someone how they are doing (a smile and simply saying hello to someone can greatly improve their day)
- join a community group
- hold a door open for someone
- help a neighbour with their shopping
Whatever you do to give back to others or the community at large, it can have a really positive effect on your mental wellbeing. Give today as part of World kindness Day and see how it improves how you feel about yourself.
